Single-phase to three-phase inverter

   Three-phase induction motor

  A three-phase induction motor consists of two fundamental components: the stator and the rotor. The stator is the stationary part of the motor, comprising the stator core and the field windings. In a three-phase induction motor, each of the three phases has its own separate winding. The rotor is the rotating part of the motor; in slip-ring induction motors, the rotor contains windings, whereas in squirrel-cage induction motors, the rotor features short-circuited bars. Squirrel-cage induction motors are the most commonly used type in industrial applications. Volt Motor’s industrial induction motor product line includes squirrel-cage induction motors.

  In an induction motor, the frequency of the rotating magnetic field in the air gap differs from the rotor’s rotational frequency; hence, it is called an induction motor. The frequency of the rotating magnetic field in the air gap depends on the motor’s supply frequency and the number of poles, and remains constant regardless of the load. In contrast, the rotor’s rotational frequency varies with the load: as the load increases, the motor speed decreases, and as the load decreases, the motor speed increases. At no‑load conditions, the motor operates at its highest speed. Within the operating range, the rotor speed of an induction motor cannot exceed the synchronous speed of the rotating magnetic field. The synchronous speed of the rotating magnetic field is calculated as follows:

   Three-phase induction motor;

  It can be operated and used directly over the network (DOL). At this time, speed adjustment is not possible.

  It can be used with speed control via a variable-frequency drive (VFD) and is suitable for both scalar and vector control.

  The same motor can be used in both 50 Hz and 60 Hz power systems.

  Suitable for star‑delta starting or soft starters to limit inrush current.
