Industrial gear reducers are global leaders in the fields of speed and torque applications.

Industrial gear reducers are global leaders in speed and torque applications. Their extensive range of gear ratios makes it easy to meet precise speed requirements. SEW also offers variable-frequency motors at no additional cost. Upgrading to heavy-duty models, refrigeration‑grade units, or adding heavy‑duty bearings is both straightforward and cost‑effective.

Industrial gear reducers offer the following gear motors and speed reducers:

  • R type = Parallel helical in-line (low backlash)

  • Type F = Snuggler parallel helical offset

  • S-type = Helical worm right-angle

  • Type K = Spiral Bevel Right-Angle (Low Backlash)

  • W-type = Spiral bevel right-angle

  • P-type = Planetary in-line (compact, high torque, low speed)

  • Varimot & Varigear mechanical variable-speed drives (with or without gearboxes and motors)

  • Brake motor

  • Movitrac Variable-Speed Motor Controller

  • Encoder

  • Movimot Motor/Drive Integrated Kit

With SEW Eurodrive’s extensive range of gear ratios and versatile configurations, we can handle virtually any geared motor application. Foot‑mounted, shaft‑mounted, and flange‑mounted units deliver power ranging from fractional horsepower to hundreds of horsepower and torque levels spanning hundreds of thousands of pound‑feet. We can configure your geared motor and provide an online quote with remarkable speed.

  Recent project: High-torque, low-speed heavy-duty oscillator

We designed and supplied a mechanical power transmission system for one of our material-handling suppliers. Our system replaced the previous one, which had been prone to frequent failures. The system gently swings a large molding box weighing 9 tons, measuring 7 feet by 7 feet by 19 feet. We employed two synchronized, high-torque SEW Eurodrive planetary gear motors—each delivering 17,000 lb‑ft of torque—controlled by an AC variable-speed drive. We also provided new large-diameter drive shafts, couplings, and bearings.

Previous Project: Triple-Boost Synchronous Lifting System

As part of a now‑famous space telescope satellite project, we designed and supplied a specialized cleanroom lifting system. This system had to use three synchronized, low‑profile cranes to carefully lift and position an extremely expensive piece of equipment. We powered the cranes with three SEW gearmotors equipped with vector VFDs and encoders. With the telescope now installed and operational, I think it’s time we could mention it.
