Coaxial helical gear reducer

   Definition and Overview

A coaxial helical gear reducer is a device that achieves power reduction through the meshing of helical gears. It converts high-speed rotational input into low-speed, high-torque output, thereby meeting the power requirements of various operating conditions. Typically comprising an input shaft, an output shaft, helical gears, bearings, oil seals, and a housing, this reducer features a compact structure and well‑thought‑out design, enabling more efficient use of available space.

   Working principle

The operating principle of a coaxial helical gear reducer is relatively simple yet highly efficient. Once the input shaft is connected to the power source, torque is transmitted to the helical gears. The gear teeth are cut at an angle, forming a helical profile; this design enables the gears to convert high-speed rotation at the input into low-speed, high-torque output during meshing. Through the engagement between the helical gears and the output shaft, the driven machinery is ultimately set in motion. Throughout this process, bearings provide support for rotational motion, while oil seals prevent lubricant leakage and ingress of contaminants, ensuring the reducer’s reliable operation.

TECHBOX helical gear reducers are specifically designed for continuous operation under harsh working conditions.

The advanced gearbox housing is specifically designed for operation under harsh conditions.

The gearbox and flange are made of high-strength gray cast iron.

A compact, sealed, robust, and precision‑engineered monolithic cast‑iron housing that prevents lubricant loss and the accumulation of contaminants.

The gears are made of high-strength surface-hardened steel.

The side hardness is 58–62 HRC, offering exceptional wear resistance.

All gear tooth surfaces are hobbed and ground to AGMA Class 10 accuracy, ensuring low noise and high efficiency.

Robust, non-flexible pinion shafts and bearings ensure precise gear engagement.

Bearing sizes with increased dimensions can withstand higher loads.

The dual-bearing support on the input shaft ensures precise alignment of the first-stage gears and reduces vibration and the resulting gear wear.

The shaft is made of En-8 and has been tempered, thereby enhancing its ability to withstand shear stress.

To withstand higher radial loads, the overhang distance between the output shaft and the support bearing is kept short.

Mechanical components are secured in their respective positions by snap rings and shims. This also ensures improved absorption of axial thrust and extends the service life of the bearings.

Higher gear ratios can be achieved by adding a pre-stage or a pre‑connected gearbox.

The availability ratio ranges from 1.4 to 250. All units are dimensionally interchangeable with equipment from other major manufacturers.
