Inspection and maintenance of SEW geared motors require careful attention.
Many machines and equipment encounter various challenges and malfunctions during operation. Therefore, it is essential to give due attention to the regular inspection and maintenance of gear reducers. Before putting them into service, operators should follow the prescribed procedures and guidelines. After the first hour of operation, the lubricant should be changed for the first time, and subsequent inspections should be carried out on schedule. The quality of SEW gear motor oil must be closely monitored; any oil that has become contaminated or degraded must be replaced immediately.
Under normal operating conditions, for equipment subjected to long-term continuous service, gearboxes that have been in prolonged standby should have their lubricant replaced after 5,000 hours of operation or one year. Before restarting such units, the oil must be changed; mixing oils of different grades is strictly prohibited, and even oils of the same grade but with differing viscosities should not be intermixed, as this can lead to adverse effects. At present, conducting thorough inspections and performing early‑stage checks are critical steps. Additionally, after a SEW gearbox has cooled down, oil changes should only be carried out when there is no risk of ignition; it is also essential to maintain an appropriate temperature, since once fully cooled, certain viscosity characteristics may change, making subsequent oil addition more difficult.
Therefore, when carrying out actual operations, it is essential to take these relevant factors into account. During setup, be sure to disconnect the power supply to rotating equipment to prevent accidental energization. Operations should be performed in accordance with the specified temperature requirements. Addressing operational challenges and conducting regular inspections and maintenance are both critical; timely or immediate fault detection through systematic checks helps ensure more stable performance across all levels and a more reliable operating environment. At present, for different users, adjustments to SEW geared motors should be made based on specific conditions, enabling optimal performance while carefully considering these varying factors and potential issues during operation.
