Helical gear reducers transmit power based on the principle of gear meshing.
Helical gear reducers transmit power based on the principle of gear meshing. When the input shaft rotates, torque is transmitted to the input shaft via bearings, driving the reduction gears to turn. Through the meshing action between the gears, the power is progressively transferred stage by stage, achieving speed reduction. At the same time, the meshing of multiple gear stages amplifies the output torque, providing a torque‑boosting function.

Calculation:
The reduction ratio of a helical gear reducer is determined by the ratio of the number of teeth on the gears. Theoretically, a single-stage reduction ratio can exceed 10; however, in practical applications, most manufacturers limit it to no more than 6.3 to facilitate two-stage gearing.
Harmonic Drive Gear Reducers: Harmonic drive gear reducers operate on the principle of planetary gearing, with key components including the harmonic wheel, needle pin, and needle gear housing. When the input shaft drives the eccentric sleeve to rotate, the eccentric sleeve causes the harmonic wheel to perform planetary motion within the needle gear housing. The harmonic wheel meshes with the needle teeth on the needle gear housing, enabling the harmonic wheel to rotate and drive the output shaft, thereby achieving speed reduction.
The gears of this type of reducer are typically manufactured from high-strength, low-carbon alloy steel through carburizing and quenching, resulting in high precision. They offer high transmission efficiency—exceeding 96.5% even in a single-stage drive—and feature stable operation, low noise, long service life, and high load-carrying capacity.
Harmonic drives feature high efficiency—exceeding 90%—compact construction, and a small footprint. Thanks to the rolling‑friction contact in the transmission, they offer a long service life. Moreover, they operate smoothly with low noise, making them well suited for equipment that requires precise speed control.

It is suitable for applications with high demands on transmission efficiency and stability, such as heavy industry, cement manufacturing, and mining. It can withstand substantial loads and is well-suited for light‑duty equipment, particularly in scenarios requiring high torque and low noise.
It is widely used in applications requiring high precision, high efficiency, high torque, and smooth transmission, such as industrial machinery (packaging equipment, printing presses), automation equipment (automated production lines, robotic systems), and construction machinery (cranes, excavators), among others.
Helical gear reducers, characterized by high transmission efficiency, long service life, and low noise, are widely used in applications with stringent requirements for transmission efficiency, such as industrial automation production lines, material handling equipment, and metallurgical machinery.
A cycloidal pinwheel reducer achieves speed reduction primarily through cycloidal motion and the meshing of needle teeth. The input shaft of the reducer drives an eccentric wheel to rotate via a series of transmission mechanisms; the cycloidal gear fixed to the eccentric wheel, under the drive of the eccentric wheel, performs cycloidal motion along a stationary internal gear. The needle teeth on the cycloidal gear engage with the tooth profile of the internal gear, thereby realizing speed reduction.
Helical gear reducers, with their stable transmission efficiency and load-carrying capacity, are well-suited for heavy‑industrial environments; meanwhile, cycloidal gear reducers excel in applications requiring precise control and efficient power transmission, thanks to their high precision, high torque output, and compact design. The choice of the appropriate type depends on the specific application requirements and operating conditions.
