Inspection and maintenance of SEW geared motors must be given due attention.
Many pieces of equipment experience certain issues and malfunctions during operation, so it is essential to give due attention to the inspection and proper use of gear reducers. Before putting them into service, operators must follow the prescribed procedures and requirements. After the first hour of operation, the oil should be changed for the first time; thereafter, regular inspections are recommended. The quality of SEW gear motor oil is critical—any oil that has become contaminated or degraded must be replaced promptly.

In general, for equipment that operates continuously over long periods, the oil should be changed after 5,000 hours of operation or once a year. For gearboxes that have been idle for an extended period, the oil must be replaced before restarting; mixing oils of different grades is strictly prohibited. Even when using oils of the same grade but different viscosities, improper blending can lead to adverse effects. Therefore, thorough inspection and proper handling during initial use are critical factors. Additionally, oil changes should only be performed after the SEW geared motor has cooled down and there is no risk of combustion; however, it is important to maintain a certain temperature, as complete cooling may cause the oil’s viscosity and other properties to increase, making draining more difficult.
Therefore, during operation, it is essential to pay close attention to these relevant factors. When setting up the equipment, be sure to disconnect the power supply to the drive unit to prevent accidental energization. Operations must also adhere to the specified temperature requirements. Such procedural considerations, as well as regular inspections and maintenance, are critical for promptly identifying and resolving potential issues. This approach helps ensure greater stability in the overall system performance and enables it to operate reliably in a more consistent environment. At present, depending on the specific needs of different users, SEW geared motors should be configured accordingly, delivering excellent performance while taking into account these various factors and potential challenges during use.
