  • Brake Control

The braking coil is compatible with various supply voltages. It is powered by a brake controller located in the motor junction box or the control cabinet.

    Suitable for your application

Typically, brakes are controlled by a brake controller mounted in the motor junction box or control cabinet. You can choose from a variety of brake controllers. In addition to different supply voltages, brake controllers are available to meet specific application requirements:

    • Acceleration capability with a high switching frequency (achieved through the use of a patented dual-coil system, for example) BGE../BME../BSG.. )
    • It features a fast‑closing function, enabling high stopping accuracy (when used with an integrated or external high‑speed relay, for example). BMP../BSR../BUR.. )
    • With integrated heating function ( BMH.. )
    • With a for PLC or an inverter (for example BMK.. or BMV.. ) of the attachment DC 24 V Control Input
    • As a safety-related component used for the power supply of the functional safety interrupt brake ( BST.. )

If requested by the customer, up to BE2 The brake can also operate under an external DC voltage source, eliminating the need for additional braking control.

The response time is exceptionally short when enabled.

Equipped with a brake SEW EURODRIVE Patented dual-coil system. Utilizing a design with acceleration capability. SEW EURODRIVE In a dedicated braking control system, the brake control ensures that the acceleration coil is energized first, followed by the holding coil (the entire coil). The strong pulsed magnetization of the acceleration coil—generated by a high‑amplitude acceleration current—enables an extremely short response time; even in large brakes, the saturation limit is not reached. The brake shoe carrier moves very rapidly, and virtually no braking losses occur during motor startup.

The response time is exceptionally short when shut down.

The response time of the brake also depends on the rate at which the energy stored in the brake coil dissipates when the power is turned off. A freewheeling diode is used to dissipate this energy. “ AC circuit disconnected ” of energy. The current decays exponentially. When both DC and AC circuits are switched off simultaneously with the DC circuit containing a coil, the current dissipates more rapidly through the varistor. Consequently, the response time is significantly reduced. Traditionally, switching off DC and AC circuits has been accomplished by using auxiliary contacts on braking contactors (suitable for inductive loads). Under certain conditions, you can use SR.E Electronic current relay or UR.E Use a voltage relay to interrupt the DC circuit; see the next section.
