SEW rectifier module

SEW DC disc brakes can be fitted with the appropriate brake control system depending on specific application requirements and operating conditions. As standard, all general-purpose systems are equipped with a resistor for overvoltage protection. If a non-SEW brake system is used, the user must provide suitable overvoltage protection.

  • Product Description
  • ┃ German SEW motor, rectifier block for gearboxes, bg1.5

    Available options include: bg1.5, bge1.5, BMH1.5, BME1.5, BME3.

    Product part numbers: 8253846, 8253854

Brake control systems such as bg1.5 or bge1.5

SEW DC disc brakes can be equipped with appropriate braking control systems tailored to specific application requirements and operating conditions. As a standard configuration, all universal systems are fitted with over‑pressure protection via a rheostat. If a SEW braking system is not used, the user must provide suitable over‑pressure protection (see “Practical Drive Engineering Handbook, Volume 4”).

    ┃ BSG control unit

The BSG control unit, powered by 24 V DC, ensures the same response time as that achieved with a BGE braking rectifier. For motors with frame sizes 112 and larger, the BSG control unit is standard equipment. If required, it can also be installed on motors with frame sizes 71 to 100. In the absence of a BSG system, the user must provide appropriate overvoltage protection (see the “Braking Control System” section).

    ┃ bg1.5 / BMS braking rectifier

Half-wave rectifier with overvoltage protection, model BG1.5.

The BG braking rectifier is installed inside the terminal box. The BMS unit is designed for DIN‑rail mounting with a socket and is suitable for installation in switchgear cabinets. In motors with frame sizes 63 to 100, the BG braking rectifier is factory‑installed in the terminal box; the BG/BMS unit cannot be used on motors with frame sizes 112 and larger.

This rectifier is intended for small motors and for applications where there are no special requirements for braking response time.

They are not suitable in elevated ambient temperatures or under cooling conditions that are unfavorable to the brakes.

       Rectifier

       A. Rectifier Usage Instructions:

Input voltage: AC 110V/220V/AC 380V/AC 440V (customizable upon customer request).

Output characteristics: Constant current/constant voltage mode is switchable (0–rated value).

Output waveforms: high-frequency square wave, DC, and superimposed waveform.

A rectifier is a rectification device; put simply, it is a high-frequency switching power supply.

It can convert AC (alternating current) to DC (direct current).

It has two primary functions: first, it converts alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC), which is then smoothed and supplied to the load or the inverter.

1: It supplies charging voltage to the battery; therefore, the rectifier also functions as a charger.

High-quality components for DC power supplies:

High-quality IGBTs are used as the main power devices.

A super‑crystalline (also known as nanocrystalline) soft magnetic alloy is used for the main transformer core, and the main control system employs multi‑loop control technology.

At the same time, an acidic salt-spray protection measure is employed in the design. The power supply features a well‑thought‑out structure and high reliability.

Our power supplies boast a compact footprint, lightweight design, high efficiency, exceptional reliability, and superior performance, making them the next‑generation replacement for SCR (silicon controlled rectifier) power supplies.

Suitable for a wide range of precision surface treatments.

For example: laboratories, oxidation facilities, electrolysis plants, and areas handling zinc, nickel, tin, chromium, optical components, metallurgical processes, chemical conversion coatings, and corrosion‑related operations.

It has also earned consistent praise from users in areas such as anodizing, vacuum coating, electroplating, electrophoretic coating, water treatment systems, electronic product aging, electric heating, and electrochemistry. In particular, it has become the preferred choice for customers in PCB plating, plating equipment, and the electrolysis industry.

       II. Characteristics:

      1. Compact size and light weight: Its volume and weight are only 1/5 to 1/10 of those of thyristor‑based rectifiers, making it easy to plan, expand, relocate, maintain, and install.

      2. Energy-saving performance: Thanks to the use of a high-frequency switching power supply transformer.

Conversion efficiency has been significantly improved; under normal operating conditions, it exceeds that of thyristor‑based power supplies by more than 10%, and at a load factor of 70%, it outperforms thyristor‑based equipment by over 30%.

      3. High output stability: Thanks to the system’s rapid response time (on the order of microseconds), the power supply exhibits strong adaptability to grid and load variations, achieving output accuracy exceeding 1%. Coupled with the high efficiency and precise control of switch-mode power supplies, this helps improve product quality.

      4. Output waveforms are easy to modulate: Thanks to the high operating frequency, adjusting and processing the output waveform incurs relatively low costs, allowing for more convenient customization to meet user requirements. This significantly enhances on-site efficiency and quality, thereby improving the overall quality of machined products.

       III. Application Features:

Reducing porosity ensures that the nucleation rate exceeds the growth rate, thereby promoting grain refinement.

It enhances adhesion, leading to breakdown of the passivation film. This promotes strong bonding between the substrate and the coating layer.

It enhances coverage and dispersing power, and the higher cathodic negative potential enables deposition even at locations within the passivation‑deposition zone of conventional coatings.

It reduces internal stress in the coating, mitigates lattice defects, impurities, voids, and deposits, facilitates the formation of crack-free coating films, and decreases the need for additives.

It is conducive to obtaining alloy coatings with stable composition.

Enhance anode solubility without the need for anode activators.

The mechanical properties of the coating can be improved by enhancing its density, reducing both surface and volume resistivity, and increasing toughness; moreover, the coating’s wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and hardness are all controllable.
